I’m very excited to be writing this post on a MacBook! If you follow my you’ll know how desperate I am to get my very own MacBook, today I’m having a little go on one and I’m already hooked! But at £1000 a piece it’s going to be a while before I manage to save up my own, so this post is all about how I’m going to save up the money and hopefully give you some money-saving tips for your own big spends!
Having an Apple Laptop is a huge investment for me as it enables me to use my iPad and Phone all synced together, all my photos, contacts in one place- which makes it so much easier for blogging too!
I will be honest and say I definitely don’t have a job, so earning money is going to be more difficult than the rest of you but I’m hoping that there’s some people who can relate to this? Even if you do have a full-time job saving up can be difficult if you have other necessities to purchase so here goes!
Tomorrow I’m off to the bank to set up a separate account so I can keep my ‘fund’ in two separate spots, this way I’m less tempted to spend it on junk! I think the way I’m going to work it is for every £50 I save, £30 will go towards my MacBook fund and the other I can spend whenever I choose, obviously it doesn’t apply to parties, christmas shopping, holidays etc.
There’s so many ways you can make money these days, quite a few from just sitting at your laptop at home! The first thing I am going to be doing is holding a Blog Sale, I realise I may not do a lot of OOTDs or Beauty tutorials involving me showing my face but like all people I have unwanted ‘stuff’ (hate that word, but still) and so I figured a sale on my blog would be perfect! It gives me the opportunity to control the price and how long its up for, which I don’t get on eBay. I will be selling some clothing that has hardly been worn, if ever and I’m thinking of selling some unused makeup as well but I’m not too sure how it would go down? Would you buy makeup from a blogsale? I’m sure I will find lots of other bits and bobs to put on too, watch this space!
The second thing I’m thinking of offering on my blog is advertising, I have no idea what to charge- I want to keep it relatively inexpensive so that anyone can advertise, but obviously I don’t want to be a lot cheaper than average? What do you think about £2.50 per month for a 250×250 button in my sidebar, a #FF on twitter and a post dedicated to my advertisers? Is that too expensive? I’m going to have a look into it so I can get a competitive price for a relatively small blog like myself.
You hear it so often in the news now that it’s becoming an overused word, but still, cutting back on luxury purchases is a must if I want to save up enough. This involves not spending as much on high-end beauty products and telling myself I dont ‘really need’ those shoes. It might seem obvious but you would be surprised how much you can save! Another thing I might try is getting a ‘spending app’ for my phone or iPad, it tells you how much you’ve spent and what on, I realise this is what online banking is for but what about all those coins on the side? The notes in your purse? They all add up to something and even saving the pennies will make a big difference.
I am hoping to save up enough for an MacBook Pro by this time next year, so that involves me saving £2.73 (to be exact) a day! I’m not sure how well I’m going to be able to stick to this but it can’t hurt to try!
